That is the case if two scientists are to be believed, according to this report in International Herald Tribune. The two men are pursuing a lawsuit in a court in Hawaii claiming that a giant particle accelerator that will begin smashing protons together outside Geneva this summer might produce a black hole that will spell the end of the Earth – and maybe the universe.

If that happens, I will write my first-hand account of the black hole on this blog. But will you be there to read it?
